This one was destined.

The Fenix-Umbran tartan began as a love letter. In 2010, I married my husband at Comlongon Castle, a 15th century tower house on the Scottish border. Just the two of us. A piper. A chapel. A violinist who played only for us. That day became the foundation of everything I write.

When I created Solasta: The Highlander Fae, I knew the world needed something real to anchor it. What began as one book became a trilogy. The Shadow Crown Saga now continues with Book Two, Liora: The Royal Line, and this tartan is the thread that ties every story in the series together.

In July 2026, the Fenix-Umbran tartan was officially registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans, Reference Number 15,488, under Fenix Rising Press. It is currently being hand woven in Scotland by Just Kilts Scotland (justkilts.co.uk).

A registered Scottish tartan, woven thread by thread, carrying three layers of meaning: the world of The Shadow Crown Saga, the identity of Fenix Rising Press, and the day a love story became a legacy.
